VBS Lizard

VBS Lizard:
No, I didn't learn this one in vacation Bible school. The
"V" is Michael Verduin, whose last design was the Mighty Mite
Hellgrammite that forms the basis for this fly. The "B"
is Diane Blair, who showed me how to tie the Mighty Mite and graciously
gave me one to study. The "S" of course, is me, Bruce
Sublett. The original Mighty Mite is a neat hellgrammite imitation
usually tied on a size 4 hook, with a clipped O-ring forming the
pincers. The VBS lizard borrows most of the design, but bumps the
size up to a 3/0 wide-gap jig hook, adds a rattle and a weedguard, and
does away with the hellgrammite pincers. Big medicine for big
springtime bass. Save on six! |
