Actually, there's not much
"us" at Gulf and Ozark. I'm Bruce Sublett: CEO, CFO, labor
force, shipping department, and field tester. I'm a retired
community college English instructor with a jones for fishing.
When my colleagues expressed concern that I might not have anything to
do when I retired, my answer was "Obviously, you don't fish."
G&O actually had its genesis as a way to help my cousin Randy, one of North Arkansas' top commercial tiers, get an on-line market. I started investigating E-bay and listing some of my own work just to sort of test the waters, and found that I could actually sell flies for money and get positive feedback. My real interest is saltwater flies, particularly for the Gulf Coast. I have a pied-a-terre (French for 12-year-old travel trailer) on East Bay, part of the Galveston Bay system on the upper Texas coast, and spend as much time as I can there hunting specks, reds, and flounder. That's me in the picture with a 7 1/2-pound flattie from Rollover Pass. I also dabble in trout fishing, mostly in Ozark and Ouachita tailwaters. As a result, most of the flies on this site are targeted to those locations, hence the name. I don't intend to be an internet billionaire; if I turn enough flies here to buy gas for the boat, I'll be happy. My business philosophy is simple: sell a quality product at reasonable prices, and work hard to provide the best possible service. |
